Several new laws affecting teen drivers in Illinois take effect on January 1. If you have a teen driver in your family, the Chicago Chapter strongly encourages you to know and understand the new laws. In addition to understanding the laws (which we consider to be good, but minimum requirements) it is vital that parents understand the best practices they can implement in their families. These best practices for parents are explained in the Council’s Family Guide to Teen Driver Safety and amplified in the new DDC Alive at 25 Parent’s Course.
You can go online and print out a brochure from the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office that describes all of the laws that take effect on January 1.
