Recommendations to restrict cell phone use by motorcoach drivers are among the items added to the National Transportation Safety Board's "Most Wanted" list of transportation safety improvements. The board issued the updated list (.pdf file) on Oct. 28. New recommendations include required use of electronic onboard recorders by all motor carriers and a ban on non-emergency cell phone use by motorcoach drivers. Reappearing on the list are recommendations intended to improve the safety of motor carrier operations, such as preventing medically unqualified drivers from operating commercial vehicles, and to enhance protection for motorcoach passengers. NTSB established its "Most Wanted" list in 1990. | ||||||
