The American Trucking Associations issued 18 recommendations as part of its agenda (.pdf file) for reducing highway-related fatalities and injuries. In October, Arlington, VA-based ATA announced that its board of directors approved the recommendations, which include initiatives intended to improve driver performance and make vehicles and motor carriers safer. Initiatives include support for a national maximum 65 mph speed limit, more stringent laws to reduce drinking and driving, and increased use of red light cameras and automated speed enforcement. The agenda is intended to complement a recent initiative to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility within the trucking industry, ATA said in a press release. | ||||||
