Congress swears in Hersman as NTSB chairperson
Deborah Hersman on July 28 was sworn in as chair of the National Transportation Safety Board.
Hersman has been a board member since June 2004 and has accompanied investigators on 16 major accident investigations, according to NTSB. Most recently, she was at the site of the deadly Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority crash that occurred June 22 in Washington, D.C.
Prior to joining the board, Hersman was a senior professional staff member on the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee from 1999 to 2004.
